Water Villas & Bungalows
For the ultimate in romantic rooms, why not stay in a water bungalow or water villa, built on slilts over the turquoise lagoon?
These are some of the most luxorious rooms in the Maldives, and always extremely popular so book early!
If you are looking for a fantastic value choice, then consider the lovely water bungalows at Kuramathi Cottage and Spa. These are superbly decorated in browns and creams and are the best rooms on the island. Out of all the water bungalows and water villas in the Maldives, these are possibly the best value. You can dine on bed & breakfast, half board or full board.

Another great option are the water bungalows at Full Moon Maldives. These have recently been refurbished and include a romantic 4 poster bed, with private terrace and steps leading directly to the sea. Full Moon is a little smaller than Kuramathi with a very relaxed feel. The beach cottages on Full Moon are exceptional too, and so quite a few customers mix their accommodation with say a week in a beach cottage and a few nights in a water villa or water bungalow.

If you want an all inclusive option (or at least full board) then Meeru may be the best choice. This is a larger island with plenty of facilities and a very casual atmosphere. There are a couple of types of water villas on Meeru. The standard water villas are really just a little over the water and so could be called beach / water villas. However they are fantastic value and wonderful inside! For the true over water villas, you need to book a jacuzzi water villa - these are often quite a bit more expensive but are beautifully designed inside, and with a jacuzzi for 2!

Finally for something truly special have a look at the 5-star luxury water villas at Baros which have spectacular views and are built entirely of wood with coconut-thatch roofs. The spacious over water deck allows you to lounge in total privacy, with wooden stairs that lead directly into the sea to swim or snorkel. They also boast a 4-poster bed, a bathtub overlooking the sea, wine chiller, expresso machine, and DVD/CD player.
