Fantastic location of the beachfront cottages at Full Moon in the Maldives
Our Opinion
One of the best reasons for coming to Full Moon are the absolutely wonderful beachfront cottages - they are located on a white sandy stretch of beach, so typical of the Maldives, and are beautifully decorated inside with a partial open-air bathroom, another unique experience. The bath and basin are under cover, but nothing beats taking a hot shower in your own walled mini-garden.
As well as the main restaurant which serves buffets and themed dinners, there are two romantic restaurants by the beach where the food is superb, and you really should try these out. We actually prefer these to any of the others due to the gorgeous setting, even above the Casa Luna which is the signature restaurant. We would suggest going bed & breakfast so that you have the freedom to dine where you wish, including the cheaper main restaurant.
The evening entertainment is fairly gentle, but may be a band, a singer or dancing - it varies each night, and probably the best place to sit and listen is on the terrace overlooking the beach, with a tropical drink or cocktail to hand of course!
Finally, don’t leave without having a few hours in the spa. There is a wide range of massages, rituals and treatments, and for men as well. One treatment involved white lily which is apparently fantastic for the skin. To reach the spa, you actually cross a wooden walkway as it is located on its own island! The scents and smells are incredibly relaxing.

Upgrade - BEACHFRONT COTTAGES: beautifully furnished, sea facing individual cottages, with an enclosed open air bathroom with bath and garden shower. We love the fact that you can just walk out of your cottage and you are on this amazing beach!
Upgrade - WATER BUNGALOWS: also have TV and CD player, four poster bed and bath with ocean view. These are built on stilts over the blue lagoon.

- Baan Thai - beautifully designed indoor restaurant with Thai chefs
- Casa Luna - the signature restaurant with a selection of fine wines from around the world
- Full Moon restaurant - this is the main restaurant set in a thatched roof pavilion overlooking the swimming pool and tropical gardens, and has frequent themed night buffets.
- Have a romantic candlelit meal for 2 on the beach
- Coffee shop
- Anchorage Bar - overlooks the lagoon and great for sipping cocktails while listening to soft music
- There are refreshing cocktails, connoisseur wines, liqueurs and cigars available in Anchorage Bar and the Drifters Club.

Excursions
- Island Hopping - Try a relaxing half or full day island hopping trip to see some of the beautiful islands nearby. Your trip may include locally inhabited islands, other resorts or deserted islands with superb beaches and snorkeling.
- Dolphin Sunset Cruise - Their most popular trip! Join our experienced crew on a traditional Maldivian Dhoni as they track the playful Spinner Dolphins which live around Full Moon. A truly magical opportunity not to be missed.
- Sunset Fishing - the line, hooks and bait are provided and the following evening your fish will be served in the restaurant for everyone to enjoy!
- Kuda Bandos Snorkelling - Kuda Bandos is a small, beautiful island around 20 minutes boat ride from Full Moon. There are no hotels or shops, so just laze away the hours on the pristine white beach, or view the magical underwater world as you snorkel the natural reef.
- Reef Snorkelling - Banana Reef is famous for it's myriad of colourful tropical fish and pretty corals. This snorkeling trip offers a fantastic opportunity to snorkel this well known site, located close to Full Moon.
- Male Shopping - Explore the streets of the tiny capital where a local guide will show you the important sites, including the fascinating fish markets, mosques and Presidential Palace.
- Big Game Fishing - spend a morning or an afternoon experiencing the thrill of Big Game Fishing. Blue Marlin and Sailfish are common catches.
- Glass Bottomed Boat - snorkel without getting wet! Watch the colourful reef drift beneath your feet, alive with unusual fishes and fascinating sea creatures.
Scuba Diving
- There are more than 45 popular dive sites in close proximity to Full Moon, and there is a whole variety of options from complete beginner to PADI qualified divers.
