Our Opinion

This is a small and friendly island surrounded by crystal clear water and white sandy beaches. Life here is laid back luxury - each room is an individual villa or bungalow made from natural elements and stylishly furnished. For the luxury on offer, we think this is one of the best value islands in the Maldives in its class.

As Baros has an excellent house reef, the snorkelling experience is fantastic. In parts, it is just 10 metres from the water's edge, so you don't have to be a diver to experience amazing marine life! They will provide the snorkelling equipment if you do not have your own.

Finally, it's important to stress how friendly the staff are here. As we left the island, even after a relatively short stay, we were waved off by the staff as our boat sailed away towards Male. It was so sad to leave!

DELUXE VILLAS
These spacious wooden rooms are tucked discreetly among the island's thick lush vegetation and are built within a few yards of the water's edge with private wooden deck overlooking the beach. They feature an open-air bathroom set in a private garden with stand-alone bathtub and shower.

Upgrade - BAROS VILLAS: Luxuriously appointed and grand rooms with lofty high ceilings, four poster bed, expresso machine, DVD and CD player, and beachside terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean. Baros Villas have a private garden bathroom with shower and a luxury indoor shower and bathtub.

Upgrade - WATER VILLAS: with four poster bed, expresso machine, DVD/CD player, and are built on stilts with a large sundeck and steps down to the crystal clear water allowing you to swim or snorkel straight from your villa.


Facilities

  • Open air garden spa for Thai, Sweedish, hot stone and aromotherapy massage, plus a variety of beauty treatments, steam and plunge pool.
  • PADI dive school and watersports including windsurfing, catamaran sailing, canoeing. As well as the house reef, there are over superb 30 sites around the island.

  • Shop, games room with pool and table tennis.


Cuisine

  • The Lime restaurant is where you come for breakfasts - delicious by the way - and is built as an open pavilion over the water. Lunch and dinner are also served here.
  • The Cayenne Grill has al fresco dining in thatched gazebos above the lagoon. Typical food includes seafood, meats and fish.
  • The Lighthouse is the signature restaurant on Baros and is situated on its own pier over the water. The flavours are quite wonderful and there is a wide selection of international wines. Afterwards relax in the bar and lounge upstairs.
  • Room service is available 24 hours a day in your villa.
  • Dine anywhere - have a barbecue for two on the beach, a romantic dinner on the boardwalk, a candle-lit picnic in a palm grove, or a special dinner on a secluded sandbank, in fact anywhere you wish!
  • The Sails bar is built under palm trees with soft music playing in the evening.
